More Funds Approved for Westport Library Renovation

The construction project is slated to begin in August of next year.

WESTPORT, CT — Another $5 million will go toward the Westport Library's renovation project, following unanimous approval of the appropriation by the Board of Finance Tuesday night, reports the Westport News.

The massive project is slated to cost about $19.5 million, for which the library already has nearly $10 million. Tuesday's appropriation brings the popular downtown facility closer to its goal but still nearly $5 million short. A public forum on the project is scheduled for Nov. 10 to discuss the plans.

For the remaining money needed, the library will be on its own to raise it, as some finance board members made it clear that they would not support additional town funds going toward the project.
