New List Reveals Best Italian Restaurant In Connecticut
The Daily Meal picked the best Italian restaurants in every state, including Connecticut.

NEW HAVEN, CT — When the weather gets cold, there is often nothing better than a nice bowl of pasta or a large plate of something served parmigiana-style. The Daily Meal, a national culinary publication, seems to agree, as it has released a list of the Best Italian Restaurants in Every State.
While this designation can often be a loose term for a restaurant that simply serves pasta, the publication seems to have done its homework, listing a number of local Italian staples for each state, and Connecticut is no exception.
According to the list, Frank Pepe's Pizzeria Napoletana in New Haven takes the honor of having the best Italian food in the state. The famed pizza place is no stranger to The Daily Meal, where it recently topped their list of the 101 Best Pizzas in America.

"If you want to discuss the loaded topic of America's best pizza with any authority, you have to make a pilgrimage to this legendary New Haven pizzeria," The Daily Meal writes. "What should you order at this checklist destination? Two words: clam pie ("No muzz!"). This is a Northeastern pizza genre unto its own, and Pepe's is the best of them all."
While the original location is still located in New Haven, Pepe's has since opened locations in Fairfield, Danbury, Manchester, West Hartford, Waterbury and Uncasville, as well as a few other locations outside of Connecticut.

Pepe's specializes in thin crust, New Haven-style pizza pies. According to the pizzeria's website, each pizza is cooked in a coal fire oven to give these “tomato pies” their famous crisp, charred, chewy crust.
