New Police Officer Joins Westport Force

Off. Michael Tomanelli is a graduate of Sacred Heart University and is completing his Master's Degree in Criminal Justice at the university.

WESTPORT, CT — The Westport Police Department recently welcomed Officer Michael Tomanelli to the organization, officials announced.

A native of Marlboro, NY, Tomanelli, 21, graduated from from the Connecticut Police Academy in Meriden on September 15.

This is the first new hire by the Westport Police Department since 2009 to attend the Police Academy, according to the department. For the past years, Westport has filled vacancies by hiring lateral transfer officers from other police departments.

Tomanelli is a graduate of Sacred Heart University and is currently completing his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, at the same university.

“Officer Tomanelli is a bright young man who will certainly be an asset to our organization,” said Police Chief Foti Koskinas in a statement.
