OTA TennisFest Supports Young Players in Africa

Enjoy an evening of tennis that unites our community in helping impoverished children play and thrive in their community.

When the Oyebog Tennis Academy (OTA), a non-profit organization that teaches tennis to underprivileged children in Cameroon, Africa holds its annual TennisFest fundraiser at Intensity in Norwalk on Saturday, June 4th from 7 - 10 pm, the impact of racquets striking tennis balls is felt many miles from Connecticut.

For 16 years, OTA has been giving young, impoverished children a chance to play and excel on the courts and in life. Today, most of the players on the Cameroon National Team have trained with OTA coaches. OTA creates opportunities for education and scholarship that would have been impossible for these children. Through tennis, OTA's work teaches life skills, promotes health and self-confidence, brings hope, and keeps kids in school. Their work is funded entirely through donations and this annual TennisFest fundraiser. This year's event features a men's and women's doubles exhibition, a pro-am tournament and point-play with Joe Norton. In addition to opportunities to play tennis, the event will be catered by FD Chefs and an open wine and beer bar will be catered by Liquid Assets.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for $75 (children under 12 $20) or $60 before June 1st at: www.otatennis.org
