Over 1,000 Show Up for March For Our Lives - Westport

Over 1,000 people took to the streets of Westport to demand common-sense gun control regulation.

Over 1,000 people took to the streets of Westport to participate in Westport March Of Our Lives - Candlelight Vigil, one of 800+ sibling marches around the world to demand common-sense gun control regulation. March For Our lives, created and inspired by students has become one of the largest student protests since the Vietnam War.

Students and parents alike turned out in record numbers and listened to speakers address the topic of gun violence, including Will Haskell, a 21 year old candidate for CT State Senate, from the 26th district, Nancy Lefkowitz, a Fairfield Community activist, Doran Sekaran, a Weston student who co-chairs Weston Young Progressive's Club and Senator Richard Blumenthal.

Also present were Senators Jonathan Steinberg and Toni Bouchet, Westport First Selectman Jim Marpe and Weston First Selectman, Chris Spalding.

Participants observed 17 seconds of silence to honor the victims of the Parkland shooting and then proceeded down Main Street and over the Ruth Steinkraus Cohen Bridge in a candlelight vigil.
