Police Investigate Suspicious Incident On Train: Westport PD
Police said a train station in Westport was briefly closed as officers investigated a reported suspicious incident.

WESTPORT, CT — Police said a train station in Westport was briefly closed Sunday as officers investigated a reported suspicious incident. The department was contacted at approximately 7:30 p.m. by the Metropolitan Transit Authority, who requested assistance with a suspicious person investigation, police said.
Police said the Greens Farms Railroad Station was briefly closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic as officers investigated the situation.
According to the Norwalk Hour, MTA officials said the investigation was conducted in response to reports of a suspicious package on an Amtrak train. Police ultimately did not find anything of concern, officials said.

NBC Connecticut reported that 224 passengers and crew members were safely removed from the train while a search was conducted by police and K-9 dogs.
Police said the investigation was conducted in conjunction with the Amtrak Police Department, as the package was found to be connected with one of their trains. The area was re-opened to traffic at approximately 9:15 p.m.

"At this time there is no on-going threat to public safety or cause for any further concern relative to this matter," Westport Police Department Lieutenant Anthony Prezioso said in a release.
