Public Hearing Scheduled For Saugatuck Master Plan Project

The hearing will be hosted by the Saugatuck Transit Oriented Design Master Plan Steering Committee.

WESTPORT, CT — The Saugatuck Transit Oriented Design Master Plan Steering Committee will host a public hearing on April 17 to update Westport residents on the Master Plan for Saugatuck, announced the commmittee's co-chairs Mary Young and Craig Schiavone.

Pennsylvania-based BartonPartners has been selected to prepare the plan, utilizing funding received from the State of Connecticut. Sub-consultants on the selected team include Langan Engineering, 4ward Planning, and Public Archeological Laboratory (PAL).

"The plan is designed to promote a future for Saugatuck Center which is vital, livable, safer for pedestrians, offers diverse entertainment, dining, recreational, residential and business opportunities while respecting Saugatuck’s small town character and historical heritage," wrote officials in a statement.

BartonPartners is initiating a community visioning and planning process "to improve the quality of life, design and public streetscapes in Saugatuck."

This planning project will engage community members in establishing design standards that will enhance this important gateway for the Town. The planning process will continue through fall 2017.

The Monday, April 17, hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Town Hall Auditorium.
