Public Hearings Begin Nov. 10 On Stream Flooding In Westport
The town has scheduled a series of meetings to discuss stream flooding and steps to examine the issue.
The following announcement is from the Town of Westport:
WESTPORT, CT — First Selectwoman Jennifer Tooker has announced that, in coordination with the Public Works, Planning & Zoning, and Conservation Departments, she has scheduled a series of meetings to discuss stream flooding and the steps Town officials are taking to examine this problem.
First Selectwoman Tooker stated, “A priority of this administration is to address flood mitigation and stream management as it relates to the resiliency of our neighborhoods. Providing an opportunity for residents to learn more about these issues and to share how they are being affected is an important first step in the process of tackling this complex, long-term problem.”

Officials and personnel who are experienced in flooding issues and flood plain management as well as the regulations and oversight authority of the Town will be in attendance.
Each meeting will cover specific streams in Westport with a general overview of each, followed by an open forum for residents to bring specific issues to the attention of Town officials. Flooding conditions are different for each stream in Town. Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting specific to their neighborhood, but may attend any session they choose. The information from these meetings will be analyzed and sent to the Flood and Erosion Control Board for its consideration in determining flooding priorities.

The meetings will take place in person in Town Hall (110 Myrtle Avenue) on Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM over the coming months as follows (room subject to change):
