Restoration Hardware Hopes to Expand In Springtime
The furniture store, a staple of downtown Westport for more than a decade, is hoping to expand to the empty space next door.
Restoration Hardware hopes to expand its offerings by this spring with a bevy of patio furniture, new plantings and other outdoor items in the adjacent Old Town Hall building.
“We thought it’d be a good place for the garden store,” said Morgan Gurath, a construction manager for the high-end furniture chain. She noted the store itself is luxuriously designed.
“The presentation of [the proposed outside area] is going to follow suit,” she said.

The expanded line of items, which could include outdoor furniture, umbrellas, planters and other design items, would at the cobblestoned Old Town Hall on 90 Post Road E., which is next door to Restoration Hardware on 76 Post Road E. The items would be on display and open to the public in front of the building.
Some of Restoration Hardware's outdoor items include the Lutyens Bench, which is made of teak and retails for $1785, the Provence Ottoman for $455 and Bruge Containers, which are planters made from reclaimed wood with prices ranging from $495-$595.

Currently, that brick section in front of the Old Town Hall is vacant aside from some greenery flanking the sides of the area. The building itself is also empty after selling for $2.3 million last year.
An early presentation was given to the Historic District Commission on Tuesday night, and they offered tentative support during the informal hearing. The tentative still needs to be presented to the Architectural Review Board, Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning and Zoning Commission.
