Some Funding Restored To Westport's School Budget: Report

The Board of Finance gave some back Wednesday.

WESTPORT, CT — The Board of Finance Wednesday restored just over $300,000 to Westport's proposed school budget for 2017-18, which was something but not as much as many parents and school officials had hoped, reports Westport Now.

Last month, the board had cut the proposed budget by nearly $1.7 million to about $113.3 million, an amount that many said would adversely affect the district.

With the $310,000 restored by the finance group, the Board of Education is also planning to kick in nearly $500,000 from the district's health reserve fund to help close the gap. The Representative Town Meeting is scheduled to vote on the final budget next month.
