St. Vincent's Medical Center Welcomes New Pastoral Care Manager

Hartford HealthCare St. Vincent's Medical Center is thrilled to announce that Rev. Fr. Lawrence Nwachukwu Okwuosa has been named Manager of Pastoral Care Services.

Fr. Lawrence is a Catholic priest from Nigeria and was ordained in Rome, Italy in 1998. He studied at the prestigious Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, and holds a PhD in Systematic Theology from the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Southern Italy.

Fr. Lawrence previously served as the first Nigerian superior of his congregation and was a lecturer in Philosophy and Theology at SS. Peter & Paul Major Seminary in Ibadan, Nigeria. He is also a full professor of Religion and Cultural Studies at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

His chaplaincy journey began in 2019 at Stanford Health Care, California, during his research fellowship at California State University, Sacramento. Since then, he has served in several hospitals, including Yale New Haven Hospital.

Fr. Lawrence is a writer, having authored numerous books and scholarly articles in both English and Italian. He is passionate about directing spiritual retreats and engaging in intellectual discussions that explore new frontiers in religion and culture.
