Staples Girls Golf Gets Win at Home

The Staples Girls' Golf Teams were the victors over Fairfield Warde in both their Varsity and JV home-opening matches at Longshore on Tuesday, April 23.

Staples Freshman Sophie Sarrazin lead all scorers from both teams, firing a 1-over par 38 from the men's tees in the Varsity 188-193 win. Freshman Lizzie Kuehndorf shot a career-best 49, and Junior Captains Deniz Elden and Brianna Dwyer helped the Wreckers break a two-year losing streak to Fairfield Warde. Freshman Claire Gordy and Junior Captain Claudia Fernandez rounded out the Varsity squad.

The JV Wreckers trounced their opponents 207-262. Captain Grace Futterman, Juniors Maya Stuttard and Meher Bhullar, Sophomore Merin McCallum, Freshmen Leni Lemke and Elle Laub played in the 55-stroke victory from the ladies' tees. The Wreckers finish the week on Thursday at home versus Trumbull.
