Staples Girls Soccer Routs Ridgefield [VIDEO]

After getting blanked at Danbury in its previous game, the Staples girls soccer team took out some frustrations Wednesday.

Turner Block and Abbey Lake each scored two goals for the Wreckers, who routed Ridgefield 8-2 to improve to 3-1.

Gea Mitas, Ryan Kirshner, Abby Fagan and Maggie Walsh also scored for the Wreckers, who scored seven straight goals after the Tigers took an early 1-0 lead.

Goalkeeper Jessie Ambrose recorded five saves for the Wreckers. Rebounding from a 4-0 loss to the Hatters, Staples built a 5-1 cushion at the intermission and continued to pour it on in the second half.

Ellie Gravitte and Ali Brassinya had the goals for Ridgefield, which dropped to 1-1-1.

Staples is back in action on Friday at Wilton (4 p.m.) while Ridgefield hosts Ridgefield on Saturday (6 p.m.)
