The Staples girls golf team defeated New Canaan for the first time in three years Tuesday, posting a 194-229 win over the Rams at the Longshore County Club.
Sarah Ressler led the Wreckers, who improved to 3-0, with a 46, one shot better than teammate Erica Stein. She was followed by Eliza Duval (50) and Christy Cantor (51).

New Canaan, which lost its first match of the season and dropped to 3-1, was paced by Chrissy Parnette's 50. Amanda Chin shot 56, Bridget Falcone 59 and Kate Gilhoul 64.
Staples is back in action on Wednesday, hosting Ridgefield at Longshore.
