Staples' Andrew Gai carded a 71 on Thursday to earn medalist honors in the FCIAC golf championship at Fairchild Wheeler.

Gai, who was named the league's most valuable player, helped the Wreckers finished in a tie for second with Greenwich.

The Wreckers posted a team score of 308, finishing eight strokes behind New Canaan and in front of Ridgefield (326), Darien (334), Trumbull (338), Fairfield Warde (359), St. Joseph (366).

Staples' Austin Alianiello shot a 75 (38-37) and was followed by Brian Wolgast at 80 (40-40) and Kirk Massie at 82 (43-39).
