The Staples boys lacrosse team (9-3) is ranked eighth in this week's Laxpower.com's state poll.

The Wreckers rebounded from a loss to McMahon last week to defeat New York's Horace Greeley 12-6 on Saturday. Staples is the only FCIAC team to go undefeated outside the state, although the Wreckers played only two games against non-Connecticut oppponents.

The biggest game left on the regular-season schedule is a date against ninth-ranked and unbeaten Newtown, an SWC power, on Wednesday 

The Wreckers host Weston on Friday, then finish on the road against Westhill (Saturday) and St. Joseph (Tuesday).
