Stratford Man - Found with Crack Cocaine - Allegedly Strangled Woman: Westport Police
The altercation occurred Tuesday at a residence on Saugatuck Avenue in Westport.

Westport, CT - A 37-year-old Stratford man was arrested on assault and narcotics charges Tuesday, after he allegedly strangled a woman during an altercation at a residence on Saugatuck Avenue in Westport, according to police.
Arrested was Luis Ortiz, who was charged with:
- Assault 3rd (Degree)
- Strangulation 3rd
- Illegal Possession with intent to sell Narcotics
- Illegal Possession of Narcotics
The narcotics charges stem from police discovering "29 individual pieces of crack cocaine and [eight] folds of heroin in Ortiz’s possession," according to police.

The incident began with a report of a disturbance in progress at a Saugatuck Avenue home.
"Responding officers located a male exiting the residence," police wrote in a statement. "An investigation into the incident revealed that an argument between the suspect and the victim turned into a physical altercation. It is alleged by the victim that the suspect had punched her, pushed her and then placed his hands around her neck."

Ortiz was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond and was arraigned in Norwalk Superior Court on July 5. The status of his case was not immediately available.
