'The Show-Off' Attracts Award-winning Celebrities

Westport Country Playhouse's second play of the 2013-2014 season, The Show-Off' by George Kelly was enthusiastically received by Saturday's Opening Night audience. Celebrities in attendance included Maureen Anderman, Frank Converse, Keir Dullea, Mia Dillon, Robert Osborne, David Staller, Frances Sternhagen and Paxton Whitehead. Most of these highly-acclaimed, award-winning stage and film professionals are alums of the past Playhouse productions. Who could forget Ms. Anderman's heart-wrenching monologue about one woman's attempt at wrapping her hands around loss and the potential to move forward.

Now seated on the other side of the proscenium stage, the 'stars' came out Saturday night to support the Westport theater and its administrators and director Nicholas Martin. Mr. Martin is a 2013 Tony Award nominee for Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.

One of the perks of attending a show at The Westport Country Playhouse is that New York City's Broadway theater is delivered literally to your backdoor. No need to deal with traffic, trains or taxis. No wasting time getting to and from the theater. And, you don't have to sacrifice quality for convenience. I'm never disappointed by a production at The Westport Country Playhouse. Known classics are presented with contemporary twists and timeless themes reverberate in a new way.

Spend some time at one of Westport's historic cultural venues. While you're there, purchase your tickets for the rest of the season's offerings. You won't be disappointed.
