Theatre Artists Workshop receives grant from CT Humanities
Connecticut Humanities has awarded Theatre Artists Workshop with a $5,400 CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grant
Since 1983, Theatre Artists Workshop has been a workshopping organization for professional theatre artists in Fairfield County. Workshop President Andrea Lynn Green credits the $5,400 grant for helping the organization flourish following the challenges of COVID. “This generous funding from Connecticut Humanities will enable the Workshop to fulfill its mission as a cultural influence on the community. It will help us improve our technical resources and bring back our public live performances which are essential to what we do." She says, adding the grant will allow the Workshop to focus on what makes the organization so special: the creative work of its member artists.
Green describes the CTCFOSG as a vital boost to TAW and local arts in Connecticut as a whole. “The grant from CT Humanities enables us to not only to survive, but to thrive through COVID and beyond,” she says. “Most importantly, funding for unique cultural organizations like Theatre Artists Workshop is validation that the creative arts are valuable and crucial to society's collective wellbeing.”
Theatre Artists Workshop is one of 725 organizations in Connecticut receiving a CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grant, totaling more than $8.5 million. These grants are part of a two-year, $30.7 million investment in arts, humanities and cultural nonprofits by the state General Assembly and approved by Gov. Ned Lamont.
