The Green Farms Academy boys basketball team continued its rugged season-opening stretch with an 82-73 victory over the Harvey School in Katonah. N.Y.
Sean Obi scored 14 of his 20 points in the second half and also grabbed 20 rebounds for the Dragons, who improved to 3-1.
GFA completes its stretch of five games in eight days - all on the road -- Wednesday against Hamden Hall, the defending New England Prep school tournament champions, which has all of its players back from last season.
"I went 12 deep into my bench to keep our legs fresh," GFA coach Doug Scott said. "Thank goodness, because Harvey kept coming with the press and the quick-firing offense. I needed every man."
According to Scott, the fatigue showed as the Dragons repeatingly grabbed at the Harvey players as the ran past, which resulted in 37 trips to the foul line for the home team (Havey made 31 of them).
Jullien Higgs had a huge game for Harvey (1-4) with 34 points, which included making 10-of-11 free throws.
But Hunter Eggers scored 15 of his 17 points in the first half, helping GFA build a 46-40 lead at the intermission.
The Dragons also got solid efforts from their younger players as seventh-grader Tremont Waters scored 10 points, freshman Zach Baines added nine and sophomore Matt Tate chipped in with eight.
