Westport Considers Giving P&Z More Power over Some Historic Preservation Matters
A public hearing is scheduled for next week to discuss an amendment to the zoning regulations.

WESTPORT, CT — A proposed amendment to the town's Zoning Regulations would give the Planning and Zoning Commission more power in determining certain historic preservation matters, according to Westport Planning and Zoning Director Mary Young.
A public hearing is scheduled for December 15 to discuss Amendment #722, which was submitted by Mel Barr of Barr Associates, LLC. According to Young:
The amendment proposes to expand the authority of the Planning and Zoning Commission to grant both Lot Area and Lot Shape incentives (relief to zoning standards) to enable the preservation of historic residential structures located on property to be subdivided in cases where the lot is divided by the Saugatuck River, the West Branch of the Saugatuck River, or the Aspetuck River.
Full text of the amendment can be found at www.westportct.gov.
