Westport Considers Historic Designation for Mansion on Baron's South Property
The Golden Shadows mansion is located between Compo Road South and Imperial Avenue.

Westport, CT - Town officials are considering pursuing official historic landmark status for the Golden Shadows mansion on the Baron's South property between Compo Road South and Imperial Avenue.
The Finance Committee and Planning and Zoning Committee of the Representative Town Meeting both discussed the possibility earlier this week, but a decision was not reached, reports the Westport News.
Officials currently do not have a purpose for the building, but it costs Westport more than $30,000 annually to maintain the three structures at the site, the mansion, a guest house and a carriage house. The property was once owned by the late Baron Langer von Langerdorff, a perfume magnate for whom the "Baron's South" site is named.
