Westport P&Z To Discuss New Zoning Amendment Request
The amendment would "help provide an opportunity for a diversity of housing choices including affordable housing" in certain zones.
WESTPORT, CT — A public hearing of the Westport Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday to discuss an amendment to the Zoning Regulations that could have some ramifications on the "diversity of housing choices" in Westport.
The hearing will be on Text Amendment #827, which was submitted by Rick Redniss of the land use firm, Redniss & Mead, that is "proposing to modify §5-2 (Specific Terms) by adding new definition and standards for General Development Plan and §39A, (Inclusionary Housing Overlay District), by adding new standards for redevelopment."

The request if approved will modify the Zoning Regulations by adding language to create a new General Development Review definition and process in the IHZ and providing specific standards in the IHZ for redevelopment to help provide an opportunity for a diversity of housing choices including affordable housing. The proposed Text amendment is in association with pending Map Amendment #829 and General Development Plan/Special Permit #PZ-23-00316 which proposed residential, recreational, and restaurant uses for 1608, 1610, 1620, and 1622 Post Road East.

The July 10, 2023, public hearing will be live streamed at 7:00 PM on the Town’s website at www.westportct.gov, and accessible on Optimum Government Access Channel. The remote meeting link is published on the meeting agenda available on the Town’s website on the
“Meeting List and Calendar” web page. Written comments may be submitted and should be sent to PandZ@westportct.gov by 12:00pm on the day of the meeting if intended to be distributed for consideration by members of the Planning and Zoning Commission. Written comments received after 12:00pm on the day of the meeting will be entered into the record but will not be distributed until the next business day.
