Westport School Principal On Leave To Resign

The principal has been on administrative leave since February.

WESTPORT, CT — Long Lots Elementary School Principal Jeffrey Golubchick, who was placed on administrative leave in February, is resigning to pursue new employment, Schools Superintendent Dr. Colleen Palmer announced.

Golubchick's resignation is scheduled to take effect on June 30, and interim principal Dr. Michael Cicchetti will continue in the interim role while the district searches for a new principal.

"On behalf of the Westport Public Schools, I wish to inform Long Lots Elementary School and the Westport School Community that Mr. Jeffrey Golubchick has submitted his resignation, effective June 30, 2017," wrote Palmer in a statement emailed to Long Lots parents. "Mr. Golubchick has notified me that he will be seeking employment closer to his home in New York City or in California, where his wife grew up. During his tenure as Principal of Long Lots Elementary School, Mr. Golubchick has worked tirelessly to lead the School, and he has been deeply involved in all aspects of the school. For example, he spearheaded the initiative to enrich the educational experience of the students by introducing the first school-wide production of a musical. We wish Mr. Golubchick all the best for the future. We will now initiate a search to fill this vacancy, and we expect to name a new principal for Long Lots Elementary School well before the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year."
