Westport School To Remain Closed Due To Mold: Report
A Westport middle school will remain closed for the remainder of the school year due to mold.

WESTPORT, CT – After struggling with mold issues for a couple years, school officials have decided to close Coleytown Middle School for the remainder of the year, according to media reports. School officials said they have encountered more "structural challenges" than they initially anticipated.
According to the Norwalk Hour, the 450 students who were temporarily relocated to other schools will remain there for the rest of the school year, school officials said. Sixth and seventh grade students will remain at Bedford Middle School, while eighth-graders will remain at Staples High School.
The Board of Education plans to rent portable classrooms to accommodate the 300 Coleytown students at Bedford, however its likely they will not be set up for another two months, the Norwalk Hour reported. To date, over $600,000 has been spent on expenses related to fixing Coleytown, officials said.
