The Staples girls basketball team looks to snap a two-game losing streak on Tuesday when the Wreckers visit Bridgeport Central in a 5:30 p.m. start.

After starting 5-1, Staples (5-3) has suffered back-to-back losses to St. Joseph (46-41) and Fairfield Ludlowe (55-40).
Now the Wreckers will look to take out some frustrations on a 1-8 Central team that has failed to crack 30 points in its last two games.
On Friday, the Hilltoppers were routed by Darien, 66-28.
The Staples boys team also has dropped two in a row and is badly in need of a win after Friday's 46-41 defeat to a two-win Fairfield Ludlowe squad.
However, the Wreckers will need a big effort when they host Bridgeport Central (7 p.m.).
The Hilltoppers have won four in a row and improved to 4-1 with a 68-49 victory over Darien on Friday.
Central's only defeat was a 109-106 double-overtime setback to undefeated Danbury in the season opener.

The boys basketball team will be hosting its 16th annual MLK Basketball Clinic on Monday, Jan. 16 at the Staples High School Field House.
The single session will run from 9-11 a.m. Sign-in and warm-ups take place from 8:30-9 a.m. The cost is $35 per child and $60 for two brothers.
The clinic is open to all boys in grades 2-8 who are interested in developing their basketball skills with the Staples JV and varsity boys basketball players.
Participants will be grouped by skill level to ensure personalized attention. Basketballs will be provided. Bring a water bottle. All participants will receive a Staples basketball t-shirt and a complimentary season pass for all home games.
