Peter Rankowitz just missed a double-double with 26 points and nine rebounds as theboys basketball team posted a much-needed 78-72 double overtime victory over Bridgeport Central on Tuesday.
Michael Argosh scored 18 points and James Frusciante added 16 for the Wreckers, who snapped a two-game losing streak to improve to 3-4.

Darryle Wiggins was the fourth player in double figures for Staples with 10 points and also grabbed nine rebounds.
The contest was tied 56-56 after regulation and 65-65 after the first overtime period. Staples then outscored the Hilltoppers 13-7 in the second extra session.

Staples rallied from a nine-point deficit to force overtime, outscoring Central 19-10 in the fourth period.
Josh Wilkerson scored 23 points to lead the Hilltoppers, who dropped to 5-2.
It was Central's second overtime game of the season as the Hilltoppers opened the season with a 109-106 double overtime defeat to undefeated Danbury.

Jess Coelho scored 21 as the Staples girls basketball team also snapped a two-game losing streak with a 60-29 win over Bridgeport Central.
Erica Stein added 12 points for the Wreckers, who improved to 6-4.
After grabbing a 13-10 lead after the first quarter, Staples put away the game in the second period when it outscored Central 23-3 to build a 36-13 halftime cushion.
Coelho grabbed eight rebounfs while Nikki Bukovsky collected six assists and six rebounds.
Amanda McKenzie had 17 points to pace Bridgeport Central, which dropped to 1-9.
