The Westport 10-year-old baseball team improved to 2-1 in the section one tournament with an 11-1 win over Beacon Falls on Saturday in a game that was shortened to four innings because of the 10-run mercy rule. 

Westport, which is looking to finish in the top two to earn a spot in the finals, completes pool play on Monday against North Stamford at 6 p.m. at the Peter J. Foley Little League in Naugatuck.

The Westport senior American Legion team finished the season with a 8-19 record after Sunday's 3-1 loss to Fairfield. The junior squad is 10-16 with one game remaining on Monday against Stamford.

Former Staples standout Danny Hirschberg is entered in the boys 18 USTA claycourt championships, which begin Monday in Delray Beach, Fla.

Hirschberg, who lost to Fairfield's Nolan Paige in the finals of the New England sectionals, has a bye into the second round.
