The Beachside Soccer Club went 1-2 in the United Soccer League's sixth annual Super-20 North American finals this past weekend.
The team got off to a good start, defeating the North Virginia Royals 2-0 in pool play on Thursday, but it followed with a 4-1 loss to Toronto Lynx and a 3-0 setback to Lower Marion.

Recent Staples graduate Greg Gudis registered an assist in the loss to Toronto Lynx. Norwalk's Jake Zuniga also picked up an assist in the win over North Virginia.
Gudis was joined on the club by classmates Brendan Lesch and Frankie Borgonzi. Along with Zuniga and Andrew Torres of Norwalk, they were the only 18-year-olds on the squad dominated by college sophomores.

The three Staples players also played for Beachside's U-20 squad last year as 17-year-olds.
