Staples' midfielder Kip Orban was named to the Connecticut All-American boys lacrosse team.
Orban, who helped lead the Wreckers to the semifinals of the Class L state tournament, was one of 15 players from Connecticut to be so honored. He also was named first team All-State.

Defenseman Matt Yeager (first team) and attackman Charlie Ross (second team) also were All-State picks.
-- Staples second baseman Mikey Scott recently was named to the Class LL All-State baseball team.

Taking over for Jack Hennessy at second base, Scott combined average with speed and power as he batted .509 with 14 stolen bases. He also drove in 20 runs with six doubles, three triples and two home runs.
Staples defeated Danbury 5-3 to win its third FCIAC championship in four years, then lost to the Hatters 6-4 in the second round of the Class LL state tournament.
--Staples' volleyball players Jonah Aelyon and Dan Fishman were named to the FCIAC first team. Andres Bub landed on the second team and Ryan Winter was an honorable mention pick.
Staples' Dan Hirschberg, who won the Class LL and state Open titles, was named to the FCIAC's first team tennis squad. His brother, Jake, made the second team, as did the Wreckers' doubles tandem of Evan Davis and Baxter Stein. Graham Hyman was named to the honorable mention squad.
-- The Raiders and Jaguars have reached the championship of the Westport Little League majors division.
The Raiders are undefeated, having come through the winners' bracket with a record of 3-0.
The Jaguars dropped their first game, but made their way through the losers' bracket with three wins to reach the championship round.
The title game is set for White Field om Saturday at 9 a.m.. Should the Jaguars win, an "if necessary" game will follow in the double elimination event.
--Staples' Maeve Flaherty, who scored 51 goals during the regular season, was named a Connecticut Super Junior. The Super Junior was played Thursday evening at Yale.
-- The Westport Soccer Association's U-11 girls blue team advanced to the Connecticut Cup finals with a 4-3 victory over Rocky Hill last Saturday.
The U-11 squad will play Suffield in the Connecticut Cup championship Saturday at 11 a.m. in Simsbury. The game will be played at Field B at Curtiss Park, 62 Tariffville Road.
