New Canaan (9-4-2) snared the final playoff spot with a 3-0 win over Fairfield Ludlowe on Wednesday and will play at top seed Norwalk (13-1-2) in the quarterfinals.
Trumbull (11-1-4) jumped over Darien in the No. 2 spot with a 3-1 win over Trinity Catholic on Wednesday and will entertain No. 7 seed Wilton (9-5-2) .
Darien (11-2-3) slipped to third in the final FCIAC standings and will host No. 6 Westhill (9-5-2) in the other quarterfinal on Friday.
Westhill completed its remarkable run to the FCIAC playoffs with a 3-0 victory over Fairfield Warde on Wednesday.
The Vikings appeared headed for a long season when they had to forfeit three early victories after it was learned that one of their players competed in a men's league.
However, Westhill recovered from an 0-5 start by going 9-0-2 and will enter the playoffs as the league's hottest team.
Westhill, Wilton and New Canaan all tied with 29 points, but Westhill secured the sixth seed based on having the best record among the three team. Wilton grabbed the No. 7 seed by virtue of its win over New Canaan.
The quarterfinal games will be played at the sites of the higher-seeded teams. The semifinals are set for Tuesday at 5 and 7 p.m. at Fairfield Ludlowe with the championship game being played on Thursday at Norwalk at 7 p.m.
The matchups for the FCIAC field hockey playoffs also were determined Wednesday, and No. 4 Staples ( 7-2-3-1) will take on No. 5 Stamford (8-4-1-0) in the quarterfinals.
Fairfield Ludlowe (5-6-1-1) clinched a playoff berth Wednesday with a 2-1 victory at McMahon.
The Falcons grabbed the No. 7 seed and will face No. 2 seed Wilton (11-2-0-0) in the quarterfinals. Ludlowe finished with 12 points, jumping ahead of Westhill and Greenwich in the final standings.
Westhill (5-7-1-1) clinched the No. 8 seed despite losing to New Canaan 3-0 on Wednesday. The Vikings finished in a tie with Greenwich with 11 points, but won the tiebreaker based on their victory over the Cardinals during the regular season.
The Vikings' reward is a matchup with top seed Darien (13-0-0-0), which has not since 2007.
In the other quarterfinal, No. 3 Norwalk (10-2-1-0) takes on No. 6 seed New Canaan (8-4-1-0). Stamford won a tiebreaker with New Canaan because of a win over the Rams in the regular season.
All quarterfinal games will be played at McMahon on Saturday and the times will be announced on Thursday.
