Jess Coelho scored 23 points and Erica Stein added 11 for the 20th-seeded Wreckers, who finished the year at 13-9 after upsetting No. 13 Hall 33-30 in the first round. Career, which is the defending Class LL state champion, improved to 24-1.
The Panthers took control early, building a 23-13 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 40-26 at the half. It was 53-35 heading into the final quarter.

FCIAC teams went 1-5 on Thursday. Norwalk and Trinity Catholic lost on the road while Trumbull and St. Joseph lost at home.
The only FCIAC team to win on Thursday was top seed and unbeaten Danbury, which improved to 25-0 with a 56-46 victory over Sacred Heart Academy.

Staples' Mikell Washington will compete in the New England wrestling championships this weekend in Providence.
Washington finished third last week in the 195-pound division in the state Open championships.
