Westport Students Place High At CT History Day Competition
A Westport middle school History Day team fared well at the annual Connecticut History Day competition.
WESTPORT, CT — On April 28, the Bedford Middle School National History Day team comprised of fifteen students competed at Central Connecticut State University for the annual Connecticut History Day competition. After months of preparations, the BMS team presented five entries spanning four categories.
The students’ mantra was, “leave everything at the competition with no regrets!” As a result of Saturday’s competition, thirteen Bedford eighth grade students have advanced to the National History Day Championship, which will be held this June in Washington, D.C.
Team members captured first place and were named state champions in two categories, winning a total of three entry spots for the national championship. Additionally, one member of the BMS team received a special award for excellence in oral history, resulting from an interview with a Korean War veteran for his project.
