Westport Superintendent Announces Retirement
The Board of Education will work quickly to find a successor.

WESTPORT, CT — Westport Public Schools announced Thursday that Colleen Palmer will retire as Superintendent of Schools this year. According to a press release, she intends to retire Aug. 1, capping 35 years of public service to Connecticut students, including 15 years as a superintendent.
"I wish to thank Dr. Palmer for her many contributions to the Westport Public Schools as superintendent since 2016," Westport Board of Education Chair Mark Mathias said in a release. "Dr. Palmer has worked tirelessly on behalf of our students through a challenging time for our community. Her priority throughout has been the growth and success of each child. Her commitment to continual improvement will guide our work for years to come. We know that Dr. Palmer will continue her dedicated work on behalf of the Westport school community during her remaining time as superintendent and we wish her all the best for the future."
The Board of Education will work quickly to find a successor superintendent by creating a search committee at their Monday, March 18 meeting. (To sign up for Westport breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
