Westport Woman Arrested on DUI, Interfering with an Officer Charges: Police

The suspect was arrested on a warrant in connection with the July incident.

WESTPORT, CT — A 35-year-old Westport woman was arrested on charges of Driving Under the Influence and Interfering with an Officer in connection with a July 18 crash on Greens Farms Road, according to police.

Stephanie Wiedman is accused of striking a telephone pole with her car at about 11:30 p.m. Though she allegedly had hit a utility pole, no electrical wires were damaged, according to fire personnel at the scene at the time.

"Officers observed a white Toyota with heavy front end damage parked on the shoulder of the road," wrote police in a statement. "The female operator of the vehicle, identified as Stefanie Wiedman, was sitting next to the vehicle. Officers could smell a distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her breath and her eyes were red and glassy. Wiedman was arguing with the officers and swearing at them."

Officer Ashley DelVecchio submitted a search warrant for the alcohol content in Weidman’s blood, and the State of Connecticut Toxicology Lab reported Wiedman’s blood ethanol value was .21, nearly three-times the legal limit, according to police.

Wiedman was notified of the warrant for her arrest and turned herself in at Police Headquarters on Aug. 17. She was released after posting a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 26.
