Westport Woman Arrested on Narcotics Charges: Police

WESTPORT, CT — A 50-year-old local woman was arrested by Westport police for the second time in less than a week, this time on narcotics charges.

Elizabeth Rose discovered in her car parked at about 11 a.m. on Saturday behind the Home Goods store on the Post Road East.

As Officer Baker approached the vehicle, Rose appeared nervous and immediately put the car in drive," police wrote in a statement. "Officer Baker observed a water bottle with burnt tinfoil on the opening and what appeared to be a crack stem in the vehicle. Officer Baker had to reach into the vehicle to put the gear into park as Ms. Rose would not comply. As Ms. Rose exited the vehicle she crumpled the burnt tinfoil and attempted to throw the tinfoil and 'crack stem' away in front of the vehicle. Rose struggled as officers detained her, but she ultimately admitted to having crack in her pocket."

A search of Rose's vehicle, which was led by Police Service Dog Chase, found two glassine bags containing crack cocaine, according to police. Also seized was one pen used as a crack stem and burnt tinfoil with residue, which tested positive for cocaine.

Rose was charged with:

• Possession Narcotics
• Drug Paraphernalia
• Interfering with an Officer
• Tampering with Evidence

Last week, she was arrested on a warrant on burglary and larceny charges for allegedly breaking into a friend's home and stealing money from a purse, according to police.

Rose was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Dec. 2.
