Westport's Staples High School Ranked 2nd In CT: U.S. News
Five of the top 10 high schools in the state are in Fairfield County.
WESTPORT, CT — Staples High School in Westport is the state's second-best high school, according to a new ranking of the 100 top high schools in Connecticut by U.S. News & World Report.
Nationally, Staples is the 240th best high school, which is judged on factors such as academic performance, graduation rates and college readiness.
In Connecticut, the top high school is Marine Science Magnet High School of Southeastern in Groton, but five of the top 10 high schools in the state are in Fairfield County. After Staples, Darien, Weston, New Canaan and Greenwich are among the 10 best in Connecticut.

Marine Science is ranked 211th nationally; the top high school in the U.S. is The Early College at Guilford in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Schools opened in Westport on Tuesday. Generally, the highest-ranked schools had students who performed well on state assessment for math, reading and science, according to the report.
