Westport's Wakeman Town Farm Wins Grant

Residents can help the farm also win another grant.

WESTPORT, CT - Wakeman Town Farm recently won a $10,000 grant from Seeds of Change, and is in the running to possibly win another $5,000 grant from Safer Brand, according to a Town of Westport Facebook post.

According to Christy Colasurdo, co-chair of the Wakeman Town Farm Committee, the facility's outreach "has doubled every year since 2011," and the farm will use portions of the grant to bring in additional teachers and experts to aid in its educational programs.

"Our mission is to expand the farm’s reach to a greater segment of the population, including more Westport Public School students, which will, in turn, allow this nonprofit educational center to earn enough revenues to be self-sustaining," wrote Colasurdo in a statement to Seeds of Change.
