Affidavit Outlines Embezzlement Accusations On Ex-Chief

A former ambulance chief is accused of taking department funds.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — A former ambulance chief has charged with first-degree larceny for allegedly using department accounts to extract money for his personal use, spent the funds to pay for family funerals, gas for his private vehicle and dinner out, court papers indicate.

The Hartford Courant examined an affidavit on Monday at the arraignment of 48-year-old Philip Lombardo.

He has posted a $100,000 bond and is scheduled for another appearance on April 27, according to court records. He was arrested on March 13, police said.

An arrest warrant alleges that Lombardo, who had been chief of the Wethersfield Volunteer Ambulance Association, used the association’s credit and debit cards, "to make purchases for his own benefit."
