Ambulance Chief Accused of Embezzling Department Funds in Wethersfield

A chief is accused of stealing Ambulance funds and is due in court later this month, police said.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — A former ambulance chief has been charged with first-degree larceny for allegedly using department accounts to extract money for his personal use, police said.

Wethersfield police announced the charge against 48-year-old Philip Lombardo of Wethersfield on Thursday. He has posted a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on March 27, police said. He was arrested on March 13, police said.

An arrest warrant alleges that Lombardo, who had been chief of the Wethersfield Volunteer Ambulance Association, used the association’s credit and debit cards, "to make purchases for his own benefit."
