Wethersfield police have arrested a suspect in a burglary

WETHERSFIELD, CT — Wethersfield police arrested a suspect in a burglary last week.
At 2:33 a.m. Wednesday, police were dispatched to a liquor store located on the Silas Deane Highway in Wethersfield for a burglary alarm, according to a report.
Officers found that the front door glass was broken and the rear door was "not secured."

Police had noticed a suspicious man in the area tracked him down at a motel on the Silas Deane Highway, according to a report and detained the man, according to a report. The man identified himself as Pedro Rodriguez. He was sweating profusely, appeared to be out of breath, his hand was bleeding and he was holding a black bandana that had blood on it.
Police found on Rodriguez’s four unopened boxes of Newport cigarettes, one opened box of smokes and a small metal rod that was charred and appeared burned, a report says.

Officers found a small glass pipe that contained steel wool and appeared burned, along with five bags wrapped together with a small rubber band that appeared to be heroin, a report indicates.
Rodriguez admitted to drug use, according to a report. He also had 21 $5 bills, and four $1 bills and 71 cents on Rodriguez, according to a report.
Rodriguez admitted that he had burglarized the liquor store because his drug dealer dropped him off and told him to, according to a report.
Rodriguez was charged with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, second-degree criminal mischief, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
Police said a tobacco store in Rocky Hill had been burglarized about an hour earlier and that case is under investigation, police said.
