Wethersfield Historical Society presents the 44th&nbsp;Annual Old Wethersfield Arts &amp; Crafts Fair on Saturday, October 3&nbsp;from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Join us for a day of community, fun, and celebration on the beautiful grounds of Cove Park in the heart of the oldest and largest historic district in&nbsp;Connecticut. Browse hand-made items, shop for unique gifts, meet the artists, and watch demonstrations from over 90 juried artisans and vendors. There will be pottery, woodwork, prints, jewelry, textiles, and fabric art, painting, photography, and so much more. Free parking is available along State Street, and adjacent to the DMV.&nbsp;
While Google gives the address of Cove Park as 533 Main Street, fair goers would be better served using the Solomon Wells House (220 Hartford Avenue) or the DMV (60 State Street) as a frame of reference.&nbsp;
The Old Wethersfield Arts &amp; Crafts Fair is a benefit that supports Wethersfield Historical Society,
 a 501(c)3 non-profit, membership supported organization founded in 
1932. The Society offers free admission to the Wethersfield Museum year 
round in addition to providing quality educational programming that 
improves the lives of residents and helps preserve the oldest and 
largest historic district in the state of Connecticut. Tickets go on 
sale September 1. Purchased in advance, tickets are $7. They are available online through EventBrite or you can save the online fees and purchase in-person by check or cash at our offices in the Old Academy&nbsp;(150 Main Street, Wethersfield) 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. On Wednesday's the box office will close between 1pm and 2pm to accommodate our regularly scheduled staff meeting Purchased at the gate on the day of the event, admission is $10. Current members of Wethersfield Historical Society and children under 12 accompanied by an adult are admitted free of charge. Due to the nominal nature of the admission charge, only cash will be accepted at the gate.

Join Wethersfield Historical Society for the 17th Annual Old Wethersfield Lantern Light Tours. Characters on this year’s tours are drawn from the lives of real people who lived or worked in Wethersfield during the Revolutionary War. Tours depart from the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center (200 Main Street) every fifteen minutes between 6:30pm
and 8:00pm. Tours will progress through the historic Hurlbut-Dunham House, First Church, and the Ancient Burying Ground. (This event will be repeated&nbsp;on Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11).
Tickets are $30.00 and go on sale September 1.Tickets can be purchased on EventBrite through a link on the society’s website (<a href="https://www.wethersfieldhistory.org)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">wethersfieldhistory.org)</a> or in person at the Old Academy (150 Main Street) weekdays during business hours. Originally written as a single movement for another piece, “Notturno” is a work of nuanced beauty. This gem of a composition by the sublime lyricist Franz Schubert opens our 2026-27 season. “Dances and Nocturnes” was commissioned by New World in 1989 from Hartt composer Steven Gryc. Each of the seven fanciful movements can be considered “night music”, the dances being “dreams of dances”. The addition of a viola adds richness and depth to the overall texture, creating a “contemporary classic” piano quartet. Brahms’ op.8 trio was first written as a youthful composer of 21 and revised thirty-five years later, shortly before his death. This imposing, expansive work remains a cornerstone of the chamber music repertoire. Its classical structure combined with romantic expressionism certainly fits the weltgeist of Beethoven. “ Autumn Reflections” is being given in memory of William E Fuller.

Wilson-Hartgrove, a prominent voice in today’s moral movements for justice and democracy, will address how communities can strengthen democracy rather than undermine it. 
Wilson-Hartgrove is co-author of the Substack “<a href="https://ourmoralmoment.substack.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Our Moral Moment</a>” with <a href="https://www.theologyandpolicy.yale.edu/bishop-william-j-barber-ii" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Bishop William Barber</a>, author of 15 books, and is a highly sought-after speaker.
