
Creative Writing and Memoir Writing Workshop Series
Two creative writing workshops are offered this summer. The first will be for open forms and begin on July 6th. The second will focus on memoir writing and will start on July 8th. They will both meet at Saint James Church, 1018 Farmington Avenue in West Hartford.
The dates for open forms are: 7/6. 7/13, 7/20, 7/27, 8/3, and 8/10. These are all Mondays. The dates for the memoir workshops are: 7/8, 7/15, 7/22, 7/29, 8/5, and 8/12. These are Wednesdays. They will both meet from 7:00-8:30 p.m.. The cost is $240.00, and payment is for the series. Sign ups are on a first come first served basis. Registration is required.
Writing instructor David Pontrelli is a graduate of Wesleyan University, a certified Connecticut English teacher, and a certified Amherst Writers and Artists workshop leader. HIs participants represent a wide range of ages and abilities, from inner-city children to adult professional writers. The workshops he leads stress participant safety and create an enhanced sense of community. He has been a featured reader at Art Works Gallery, the Hope Out Loud Peace and Arts Festival, and Word House. He is the author of two chapbooks of poetry and a full-length collection, Poems for Streets and People, published in 2023.
