Robbery Suspect Who Fled To Peru Caught By Hartford/Wethersfield Cops
The initial arrest was in 2014, but he was finally apprehended on Wednesday, police said.
WETHERSFIELD/HARTFORD, CT — A robbery suspect wanted in Wethersfield who fled to Peru, then ended up living in Hartford, is now in police custody.
According to the Wethersfield Police Department Thursday, 36-year-old Jay Garcia — aka Jonattan Mattos — was wanted on an arrest warrant for first-degree failure to appear in court.
That charge is in connection to his 2014 arrest for first-degree robbery; conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery; sixth-degree larceny; and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, Wethersfield police said.

Wethersfield police said it was learned he had fled to Peru after he failed to appear in court back then.
Following and "extensive investigation," Wethersfield police said they learned Wednesday that Garcia was now residing at a Hartford address.

Working with the Hartford Police Department, Garcia was taken into custody and is being held on $150,000 bond.
"The Wethersfield Police Department would like to thank the Hartford Police Department with their assistance locating and apprehending the suspect," the WPD wrote in a statement Thursday.
