Teen Charged for Glastonbury/Wethersfield Police Chase

A woman asked state police to get 'the jerk' during an October chase that sped through Glastonbury and Wethersfield, a warrant states.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — A Wethersfield teen who investigators said makes a habit of provoking chases with law enforcement officers has been charged for a pursuit in Wethersfield, a warrant indicates.

Daniel Alejandro Amestoy, 18, of Kane Street, West Hartford was charged on Monday with reckless driving, disobeying the signal of an officer and first-degree reckless endangerment for the the Oct. 24 incident, according to a warrant.

It was 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 24 when a state trooper noticed a light blue sports car resembling a 1980s or 1990s Firebird or Camaro "burning out" at an intersection on Putnam Boulevard in Glastonbury.

A trooper found out the car almost hit a sport utility vehicle near the Route 3 southbound entrance ramp when he pulled along side a woman driving erratically with her children who asked him to find "that jerk" in the sports car.

An ensuing chase traveled into a residential section of Wethersfield, but a trooper called it off when noticing several families and children playing in yards.

State police eventually located him at his on Monday residence according to a warrant. Amestoy is "well known" by law enforcement agencies for prompting pursuits ], according to a warrant.

He was held on a $50,000 bond and was to appear in court on Monday, state police said.
