Wethersfield Cops: Pokemon Craziness Seems to Have Quieted Down

People seem to be more cautious now when playing the game, police said.

WETHERSFIELD, CT - It seems the initial nuttiness over the Pokemon Go game has calmed down, police said.

For now.

"The trespassing complaints have subsided to normal levels," Wethersfield police said on Thursday. "We don't know if the game is slowing down or the players are getting more cautious of where they are willing to go. We'll see."

About two weeks ago, Police said they were not entirely sure the relation, but the amount of trespassing complaints seemed to have gone up with the arrival of the Pokemon Go game.

Police said were "getting suspicious persons and trespassing complaints that usually result with a gone on arrival disposition."

Pokemon Go is a app that superimposes Pokemon characters onto real-life images on a portable electronic device in a game of virtual, high-tech scavenger hunt.

"How many are associated with the game app is unknown, but due to the increased number, we'd say the game must have something to do with it," police said.

Police are still cautioning folks to beware about venturing onto other peoples' property and wandering at or near police stations.

"You never know how people are going react if they feel threatened by unknown persons, especially in today's climate," police said.
