Wethersfield Home Wrecked by Sunday Morning Fire

No injuries were reported, a fire official said.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — A Wethersfield home was severely damaged by a fire early Sunday morning, a fire official said.

At 3:14 a.m., the Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department was called to 605 Nott Street for a report of a structure fire in a single family home, Capt. James Ritter said in Facebook post.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the home "heavily involved in fire" with dense smoke throughout the house, Ritter said. Fire crews immediately attacked the fire and began search and rescue operations, he said.

The residents were away, he said.

Because of structural concerns and a partial collapse of the first floor upon arrival, Firefighters were unable to aggressively attack the fire from the interior but had to battle the blaze from the outside, while cutting through the exterior of the building, Ritter said.
