• Second-floor fire makes home uninhabitable in Willimantic (thechronicle.com) — A late-night fire at 24 Oak Street in Willimantic left a multi-story home temporarily uninhabitable, though all residents escaped safely and no injuries were reported. Willimantic firefighters, aided by neighboring departments, battled flames on all three floors before declaring the blaze under control just before midnight. The Windham Fire Marshal is investigating the cause while the displaced family stays locally with relatives.
   

• Weekend nor'easter drops rain, wind around eastern Connecticut (thechronicle.com) — Willimantic saw a light pole knocked down on Lower Main Street and scattered power outages as a slow-moving nor'easter drenched eastern Connecticut, but officials say all local roads are now open. Windham's emergency management director reports only about 18 Eversource customers in the Windham/Willimantic area remained without power Monday morning, as crews cleared downed trees and debris throughout the weekend.
