2 Wilton Students Earn National Merit Scholarships

The Wilton seniors were among more than 2,500 college-sponsored scholarship winners announced nationwide.

WILTON, CT — Two Wilton High School seniors have been awarded college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships.

Ryan A. Katz and Polina Veronica Popova were among the Connecticut students recognized this week by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Katz, whose probable career field is marketing, received a National Merit Scholarship sponsored by Indiana University Bloomington.

Popova, whose probable career field is medicine, received a National Merit Scholarship sponsored by Case Western Reserve University.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced more than 2,500 college-sponsored scholarship winners nationwide on June 3. Recipients were selected from among National Merit Scholarship Program finalists who plan to attend the sponsoring institutions.

According to the organization, the scholarships provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study.
