2017 UConn Master Gardener Program Now accepting Applications

Increase your gardening knowledge and share it with others!

Interested in gardening? Do you enjoy sharing your knowledge and helping others? If so, now is the time apply to become a UConn Extension Master Gardener. Applications are being accepted for the 2017 program. The program provides horticultural training to individuals who wish to expand their gardening knowledge and are willing to share this expertise with the public through community volunteerism.

The program is broad-based, intensive and consists of 16 class sessions (one full day per week) beginning in early January 2017. There is also a 60-hour volunteer commitment during the year with a minimum of 30 hours working in Extension Centers during weekday business hours,assisting the public with gardening information. Individuals successfully completing the program will receive a University of Connecticut Extension Master Gardener Volunteer certificate. The
charge for the program is $425.00, which includes the training manual. Scholarships may be available, based on demonstrated financial need.

As a benefit of becoming a Master Gardener, you will increase your knowledge and understanding of such varied horticultural topics as best cultural practices for growing flowers,vegetables, trees and shrubs, plant diseases, insect pest identification and control and much, much more.
